Between Hilltop and Hellfire E-mail
Throughout most of his adult life, the former military tyrant General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), a.k.a IBB, has shamelessly dwelt on the welfare payroll of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and perpetually lived off the peoples’ national resources. Beginning from the time since he attended Government College, Bida, between the late 50s and the early 1960s, and through his 30-plus odd years in the public eye while in the Nigerian army, Babangida has known no other life, but to live off Nigeria’s precious resources like a carnivorous leech, whose bloodsucking instinct is its only known surviving game.

With this evil skill that IBB has perfected over the years, the self-proclaimed “evil genius” has diabolically and systematically turned the Nigerian people into the hemorrhaging victims of his continued evil orchestrations, even as his loyal gangs of social culprits continue the planning and carrying out of their esoteric acts of spiritual wickedness against the Nigerian people. But for the sake of those few good women and men of faith in the Almighty God, who have been interceding fervently on the nation’s behalf, the mighty hand of God is about to bring down the holy hammer on the household of the “evil genius,” to the much desired relief of the Nigerian people!

Even as the hand of God is set to bring about the evil genius’ final pitfall, the “Maradona” apparently still believes in his political dribbling, as evident in recent remarks allegedly credited to him at a so-called public lecture said to have been organized in “marking his 65th birthday” in Abuja.

The rogue former “military president” was credited as remarking at the so-called public lecture supposedly held in his honor, that: “…national history is never an episode. It is a continuous contribution and efforts of succession of leaders, each entitled to his success and mistakes alike…,” and that, “…we should not allow national discourse to degenerate to a level where we begin to see a difference between our past and present in terms of absolute. Evil versus good, corruption versus holiness, soldiers versus civilians, saints versus sinners; we are sharpening the edges of conflict in the society, and where as our national discourse is still an endangered practice?”

Evidently, judging by the above remarks, it’s reasonable to deduce that Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida still does not get it! Reminiscence of the foolhardiness of the Pharaoh Rameses II of ancient Egypt – not that Babangida possesses any of Rameses' majestic or royal qualities  - IBB apparently has not repented from the aloofness that’s sure to put the last nail on his political coffin. And just like a good friend recently opined, Babangida’s stubbornness is likened to that of a goat; naturally oblivious and insensitive of its offenses and wrong-doings in its environment! This man’s demeanor is undoubtedly reflective of someone with a reprobate mind-set.

But unless one could decipher IBB’s psychic, or get inside his brain, so to speak, it would not be immediately clear he thinks he could dribble not only his countrymen but also the Almighty God. We know from reading the scriptures and history books that nations have been destroyed by bad kings. Some of those kings at times told their subjects they were being led by divine ordinances but inwardly, they served false gods or their ego. Those infamous monarchs tried to provide incontrovertible reasons for laws and policies as they lead their people astray. At the end, the totality of the path they took to destruction reveal their callousness, savagery and selfishness. In the same light should one consider Babangida's now ridiculous and persistent use of  "In sha Allah." It would behoove IBB to beware and believe that God is not only serious, but set to finally deliver Nigeria from the cultic cabal he assembled, and of which we have now developed a palpable Babangida fatigue!

How can Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida not possible get it after all these years? How can he not get it that, it’s no longer a case of “the people stupid” in Nigeria? How can he not get it that, we, Nigerians, should and would allow our national discourse henceforth to be about “seeing the difference between our past and present,” even in the clearest absolute terms? How can he not get it that, choosing our leaders today is all about “evil versus good, corruption versus holiness, saints versus sinners," etc? How can he not get it that, the likes of himself and his cronies have no place in the future governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

And how can he not get it that, he has too many criminal cases to answer to the millions of Nigerians, whose dreams, hopes, and aspirations in life have been truncated by his evil orchestrations in the public eye through the years? How can he not get it that, there’s no statute of limitation for his crimes of the murder of the late Mr. Dele Giwa and other innocent people like the late Major General Mamman Vasta, and the other Nigeria’s finest military officers who perished in the infamous "Ejigbo Mystery Plane Crash?” How can he not get it that, these fine Nigerians certainly did not perish in vain, and that the ghosts of these murdered citizens of Nigeria will continue to demand and fight for justice?

How can IBB not get it that, he will soon give account of the yet unaccounted Nigeria’s $12.4 billion Gulf War windfall in crude oil sale during his evil misrule?  How can he not get it that, he will not be giving account of this crude oil money loot as a “civilian president,” but as an indicted criminal? Above all, how can he not get it that, his nullification of the12 June, 1993 presidential elections in Nigeria, in which he made a mockery of Democracy, effectively disqualified him from ever holding any public office again in Nigeria? Is it possible that this man, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has lost every sense of decorum? Does this seemingly mindless former dictator has any conscience left inside him?

The EFCC would like Nigerians to believe that it’s actively working on the details to find “concrete criminal evidence” against Babangida. And Nigerians in their usual patient nature would also like to believe that the Commission is “sincere” in its undeclared stance with regards to the rogue former “military president.” The respected legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) recently called on the EFCC to re-visit the Report by the Commission headed by the late Dr. Pius Okigbo.

The question to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu now is: when does the EFCC intends to employ the contents of the Okigbo Report, which had allegedly already indicted the rogue general? More than likely, Mallam Ribadu knows the distance between IBB’s opulent 50-room hilltop mansion and IBB’s entrance to hellfire. But the reason why Ribadu has not arrested Babangida yet is best known to the EFCC Czar.

Meanwhile, Nigerians wait patiently for the glorious news that would announce that their nation’s most resilient social, economic, and political leech has finally been retired from over four decades in his evil business of feeding on the people’s life-blood. But one thing is at least somewhat likely for now: there seems to be no longer any vacancy for any bloodsucker at the People’s Aso-Rock. A demon such as IBB may pretend or claim to have now changed to an angel. But demons are demons, and angels are angels! Nigerians know which one IBB is, and they’re not amused by his recent foolery in claiming that he has a challenge to "make Nigeria whole again." That claim is IBB's newest insult on our collective intelligence as a people. Babangida wants to "make Nigeria whole again?" How ridiculous!

As far as Nigerians are concerned, the only place Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida may be capable of "making whole," if possible, is perhaps his grave when he gets there. And his success at that is not likely either. But first, IBB must return his ill-gotten loot from Nigeria's public treasury back to the People, and pay his debt to the Nigerian People for his crimes against them, before his departure for hellfire. May God continue to sustain the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
