The man who ruled Nigeria with iron hands for eight years and damaged his own democratic experiment, former ruler General Ibrahim Babangida is now caught up in political quagmire as he fruitlessly seaches for a platform in the unfolding drama of his political comeback.
Forget about the carnival on November 8, when General Ibrahim Bababangida rented a crowd to pick the PDP nomination form in Abuja. The dictator has enough problems to make Judas Iscariot feel good. There is such an abundance of scary issues awaiting the former military ruler, as his enemies gather to share his remains.
Former Military Rulers Should Leave Politics - Atiku
Written by ThisDay, Nigeria
Vice President Atiku Abubakar has told former military rulers contesting the presidential race such as Ibrahim Babangida and Muhammadu Buhari to drop their presidential ambitions and allow him run. “They should step down for me as their junior brother, since both of them had occupied the position before,” Atiku said.
On the issue of June 12, General Ibrahim Babangida's only new defence was that he cancelled the election rather than annulled it. Babangida's mischeavous prank in the face of serious allegations is apparently failing. The case against him is moving from joke to reality, as issues that would derail his ambition are building up, Tell reports.
