The ground is being prepared for the rumored return of General Ibrahim Babangida to politics, as his incubated former electoral figurehead, Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, suddenly came out of hiding to acknowledge what the whole world knows - that MKO Abiola won the June 12 election - while absolving the Evil Genius of any blame for the most dastardly crime against democracy in Nigeria's history. He says Babangida was overcome by other generals who would not uphold the outcome of the election.

Former Speaker, Ghali Umar Na'abba, military governor of Western Region, Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo, Second Republic Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, as well as the National Secretary of the Action Congress (AC), Usman Bugaje, have all condemned the statements credited to three  former military leaders, Generals Ibrahim Babangida, Abudulsalam Abubakar and Muhammadu Buhari,  for denying public evidence that Abacha stashed over $5 billion of Nigeria’s funds in foreign banks.

The man believed to have impoverished Nigeria, General Ibrahim Babangida, has come to the defence of his close associate, the late dictator, General Sani Abacha, saying: "It is not true that he (Abacha) looted public treasury, I knew who Abacha was because I was close to him."
