The band of military loyalists of former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida, who were known in his days in office as Babangida Boys, have joined the push of the influential figures moving to see the former military leader out of the 2011 presidential race.

Nigerian Tribune sources revealed that who displayed their unflinching support for General Babangida while in office had reached out to their former boss and declared the need for him to serve as a bridge builder in the 2011 presidential race rather than being a loser. It was gathered that while the former military governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Umar, had written to Babangida, asking him to withdraw from the race, others had chosen different means to inform the Minna General to quit the race.

Indications have emerged that Yoruba elders under the aegis of the Yoruba Council of Elders may soon pass a resolution prohibiting a former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) from campaigning in states where the language is spoken.

It was learnt that about 51 members of the YCE had appended their signatures to the proposed resolution, warning the former dictator to steer clear of Yoruba-speaking states during his campaigns. Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Chairman of YCE, Kwara State chapter, Senator Suleiman Salawu, explained that ‘’no Yoruba man in his or her right senses would vote for IBB.”

Babangida's Plan to Destabilize Nigeria, by Lawan Gwadabe

Courtesy of Saharareporters.com, read the letter by one of the known 'IBB Boys,' Colonel Lawan Gwadabe, about Babangida's vast stolen wealth and how he has already plotted to destabilize Nigeria, should he fail to win the People's Democratic  Party (PDP) presidential primary.

"The President is invited to note that he should not underrate the capacities of both Babangida and General Aliyu Gusau to cause mischief.  For example, both of them have collected money from President Gaddafi for their presidential ambitions.  While General Aliyu Gusau is using government avenues to beef up his finances, IBB on the other hand is relying on Mike Adenuga to fund part of his campaign from their holdings in GLO and their oil blocks.  IBB has also considerable financial interest in Toyota cars that come into this country.  IBB has also invested huge funds through proxies in Angola in the oil and gas sector."

Gusau, the Spanner in the Wheel

New complications have developed in the ambition of the master manipulator, Ibrahim Babangida, to rule Nigeria again. Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Lt.-Gen. Aliyu Gusau, is kicking against Babangida’s presidential ambition because of an old agreement among Gusau, IBB and General Sani Abacha that the three would take turns to rule Nigeria. With only Gusau left without achieving this ambition, he is annoyed that Babangida is always pouncing on him anytime he (Gusau) moves to take his turn.

Gusau, who just resigned from his NSA position, has, therefore, said he would not stop his campaign except Ibrahim Babangida also cancelled his presidential ambition.

Just A Rented Crowd

For N5,000  per head, former military dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida,  IBB , rented a  crowd for his 2011 presidential ambition declaration in Abuja, facts have emerged. P.M.NEWS revealed that the desperate general, who annulled the freest election  in the country in 1993, rented at least 50 support groups and NGOs in the bid to hoodwink  unsuspecting Nigerians into believing that he has remained popular.

Rented supporters protested in front of  Niger State Government House in Minna over non-payment of allowances promised by the  State Government and politicians who contracted them for the rally.

IBB's Declaration, A Non-Event

In spite of all the hype, the event of the year became a non-event. It turned out to be a huge joke. Twenty-five out of the 28 Peoples Democratic Party governors and most stalwarts of the party boycotted former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida’s declaration of his intention to contest the 2011 presidential election. The poor attendance was such that even the Maradona, in his address, lamented that not all the people who were invited for the ceremony turned up. After the ceremony, some of the Babangida supporters from outside Abuja were seen quarreling over financial promises that ought to have been given to them through their coordinators.

Most of Babangida’s closest associates and members of the PDP National Working Committee did not attend the declaration that was characterised by unruly behaviour by the supporters of the former military dictator. The event started at 11am. In spite of the fact that the PDP National Executive Committee meeting was shifted from 10am to 2:50pm because of Babangida’s declaration, many other prominent politicians from the six geopolitical zones also shunned the ceremony.

Chased Away

Irate students in Abeokuta, Ogun State, did not allow the campaign rally of former military dictator Ibrahim Babangida to hold, thereby making the ambition of the dictator to gain a foothold in Western Nigeria still a pipe dream. The students chased away Babangida’s supporters.

The students, who are members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, mobilized from various higher institutions in the state and invaded the rally organized by supporters of the former dictator.

UNHAPPY FOLKS!

Guess who is unhappy with a transition time-table? The Maradona,  Mr. Ibrahim Babangida! Babangida, former military dictator, who wants a second shot at power, whined that the schedule is not only unworkable but could deny voters the opportunity to have varied choices during the polls. Equally disgruntled are Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive change (CPC) and former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, who said they wish that the election date is extended to ensure transparency.

Fresh facts emerged about how the former Editorial board Chairman of the Punch Newspapers, Adebolu Arowolo, was fired by his employers over that infamous ‘ ‘Minna Media Parley’, hosted by the evil genius, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

He was the first victim of the trip to Minna where Babangida who wants to be President, tried to compromise the media. The Punch which has showed zero tolerance for such behavior had few months ago showed former Managing Editor, Azu Ishiekwene, the gate for alleged corrupt practices. The whole saga also consumed Ex Editor, Steve Ayorinde. Arowolo, just like Ishiekwene, wrote consistently on the corrupt system, including legislators pay, and the alleged $5 Billion LNG remittances to NNPC...

Let's face it - we have all always suspected Ibrahim Babangida of being a drug dealer. The story of Gloria Okon, Dele Giwa's death, the burning of the Ministry of Defence and other stories are all allegedly tied to an official drug ring during IBB's regime. We researched the rumors, and this is what we found.

In an authoritative report still posted on the web site of the Canadian Parliament on the drug trade in Africa, Labrouse marks out Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria's former self-appointed president, as one of the drug-dealing dictators in Africa. Read more

Dele Giwa, a journalist, was allegedly murdered on the 26 of October 1986 by the former military dictator Ibrahim Babaginda - following damning publications. Close observers of the Nigerian media feared then it was the beginning of harsh military dictatorship in the country. It was a true assessment.

Babangida refused to appear before the duly constituted Oputa panel, giving assorted reasons for his refusal. Ray Ekpu, Giwa's colleague, said: Well, the government may say that the killers have not been found but the killers are known. ...Many Nigerians agree that it was a state sponsored terrorism and that he was assassinated by the state. Read More

Most Nigerian leaders have been corrupt, but Ibrahim Babangida added new, historic elements to corruption. One prime example is what he did with the defunct BCCI Bank. BCCI's activities in Nigeria were so profoundly, overwhelmingly corrupt as to suggest a very significant level of corruption in Nigerian officialdom generally.

Whereas BCCI's activities in most countries merely involved corrupting a few, key people, in Nigeria the corruption was systemic and endemic, and touched nearly every operation of the bank in Nigeria. The bank was operated by Babangida and his friends, including a deposed powerful ruler in northern Nigeria. Read More
