Youths Warn IBB Against Lagos Campaign

E-mail Print PDF

The group of Nigerian youths, True Face of Lagos, has warned the Evil Genius, General Ibrahim Babangida, to avoid Lagos at all costs in his presidential  campaign, except he wants trouble. The group berated Babangida for nursing the ambition to become Nigeria’s democratically elected president in 2011 after annuling the fairest and freest election ever held in the history of the country and causing the death of the acclaimed winner of the election, Basorun M.K.O. Abiola.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Adeshina Adebayo, the group said it was not unaware of “the open and surreptitious manouvres of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida to relaunch himself into political reckoning by making frantic efforts to make backdoor incursion into the Southwest, Lagos especially.”

The group said it was not questioning the right of qualified Nigerians to aspire to any public office of their choice, ”but in view of the prevalent socio-political realities in the country, credibility is of more value than qualification.

“Credibility, we are certain, is one quality strange to General Babangida. But our major concern is that during the struggle for the revalidation of the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by late Chief MKO Abiola, the freest and fairest ever to be conducted in Nigeria, but so criminally annulled by the self-confessed evil genius, Lagos bore the heaviest brunt of human casualty figures.”

It stated further that IBB has not apologised for the inhuman treatment meted to Nigerians by his government.

“He has merely grudgingly accepted responsibility for his misdeeds, but arrogantly remained unrepentant and unapologetic, playing god and abusing our collective sensibilities by even having a remote contemplation of ruling Nigeria again.

“On several occasions, General Babangida contemptuously refused to come to Lagos when summoned by courts of competent jurisdiction to answer to legions of his misdeeds, claiming that he wasn’t safe in Lagos. If Lagos wasn’t safe for him then, it couldn’t be now,” the group stated.

The True Face of Lagos said IBB can only come to Lagos and canvass for votes if he can “reverse the times and de-annul the results of the June 12, 1993 presidential election; bring Chief MKO Abiola to life; resurrect all those Lagosians and Nigerians who died as a fallout of your annulment and clear yourself in court with regard to Dele Giwa’s parcel-bombing which was late Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s supreme wish till death.”

I strongly believe if some group of political jobbers whose stock in trade is to feed fat on our common patrimony is to be brought back to their right senses the time is now.I am among the millions of Nigerians who believe Ibrahim Babangida belongs to our ugly yesterday which as a nation we are determined to forget. But that we are willing to forget the pains and torture we suffered in the hands of Babangida shouldn't be taken to mean cowardice and stupidity. Please somebody should tell people like Kassim Afagbue of NDP and his co-travelers who have nothing better to do than to wait for another time of sharing of our national fund that its time he find something serious to do which will help him take care of his family instead of waiting when Babangida will enter Aso Rock.We the youths of this country have resolved NEVER to allow the likes of Babingida campaign freely in the cities of Nigeria talkless of ruling Nigeria again.Babangida please leave us alone. What did you forget at Aso Rock that you are so sure is still there?Babangida you are a bad omen please leave us alone.Paulinus Daniel Lagos.

2011: IBB HAS THE RIGHT TO CONTEST
If General Babangida wants to contest the 2011 general elections, let him feel free to do so; it is his constitutional right, which no one can take away, even with the array of criticisms that currently trails his contemplation to contest the said election. IBB should never be deterred by those who continually shout down anyone seen discussing the IBB-for-President-in-2011 topic. The success of or otherwise of the General at the polls next year will not depend on what some few individuals say or do not say against him; it will depend more on the views of the Nigerian electorate as will be expressed through the ballot box. If the Nigerian electorate feel that Babangida is the man for the job, so will it be, irrespective of the views of the school of thought which suggests that Babangida has no right to want to rule again, after his alleged ‘evil deeds’ while in office as Nigerian Military President between 1985 and 1993. While one does not begrudge this school of thought of its opinion, it is important to bear one thing in mind, namely that even though no sin is so light that it may be overlooked, yet no sin is so heavy that it may not be repented of. Therefore, no matter how big, old, engrained, known, or unchangeable an offence might be, it can still be sincerely repented of, and healed. A word from the Christian Scriptures may help to emphasis what I mean the more: If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, pray, seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.—II Chronicles 7:14. Again, God said: I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud-mass, and your sins like a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you. –Isaiah 44:22. If God Almighty can forgive and forget, who are we, mere mortals, to insist on taking our pound of flesh even against a (repented) sinner? These few Nigerians who try and actually do make a mountain out of General IBB`s ambition to come back as Nigeria`s civilian President come 2011 should pause a little and do a thorough reflection; it is possible that this same Babangida, whom they shout now, “crucify him, crucify him,” may turn out, if enthroned President, to be the best leader this country has ever had. The question is, is it not possible that this man genuinely nurses his desire to be given an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past (if any)? Is it not reasonable to suppose that the best way to keep the fish safe is to entrust it in the care of the rat? Do we not ponder, even a little, on the possibility that, given this opportunity, this retired General may in the process of working so hard to prove his detractors wrong, end up surpassing the reasonable man`s expectations. Finally, on the premise that the devil we know is far preferable to the angel we yet know not. Let`s give IBB a chance to try his luck. Let him test his popularity. He has the right. And let the Nigerian voters, and not just a few individuals, be the ultimate decider of his fate. God bless Nigeria?

Can somebody please tell me what the Evil Genuis is coming to do again or is he coming to kill us or finish his unfinished assignment given to him by devil his master. See this shameless grandfather that was accused of 12b has the boldness to say is not 12b but is 1.2b can we see it that he has sold his heart to the devil.
BABA pls can you explain what happened to June 12 and Abiola, Dele Giwa to mention but a few and you think because of your miserable wealth all Nigerian will support you BABA listen some of us has not sell our birth right so we will not allow him. Shameless grandfather

It really surprised me to see how poeple are supporting this Evil Genius is it because of money or the level of poverty in their life that made them forget to do the right thing. If BABA becomes president God forbid will he have boldness to visit Abiola's family, Dele Giwa's family even will Gani's people welcome him what of Idiagbon so what are we saying. We should pray and act fast to eradicate people like BABA that has turned presidency to their entitlement they see Aso Rock as their family house in Minna for if we allow him hun!! then a tout will become governor during his tenure, An armed robber will become Minister of finance, drug pusher will become Information Minister what of NAFDAC free license for fake drugs so that the masses will die on time. PLS BABA GO BACK TO MINNA WE REALLY APPREACIATE YOUR EFFORT BUT WE DONT WANT YOU THANK YOU

I believe everyone is entitled to his opinion and expression it’ll be wrong for me to enforce my opinion on other people. The atrocities committed by IBB during his 8years of misrule are not what Nigerians should forget in a hurry. The widespread corruption and fraud in the country today were instituted and legalized by this self acclaimed ‘Evil Genius’. He spent billions of naira on an election widely adjudged the freest and fairest in the history of the country but failed to release its result due to selfish reasons. Why should we be unwilling to do away with the man whose style of administration basically enriches the minority and impoverishes the majority? My candid view is that we urgently need a total change in our mindset, our reasoning and political framework to move this great indivisible country forward. It cannot be gainsaid that IBB has no new idea to offer this country and would not have conceived the idea to fulfill his ‘step aside’ ambition if we all know what we want for this country. Either because of our short memory or selfish interest of those whom we placed in high position of trust and responsibilities, Babangida plans to take advantage of these two factors to re-launch himself to the position of reckoning and respectability so he could comeback to Aso Rock to finish his evil agenda. Just like someone said, our action to prevent IBB from coming to Lagos is a minority decision and has no bearing on his 2011 ambition. My advice to the teeming youth of this country is to join forces now to prevent this ‘enemy of progress’ from emerging as a flag bearer under any political party. IBB’s coming back to power will be a total insult to all Nigerians and it’s like adding salt to injury.

Let's face it - we have all always suspected Ibrahim Babangida of being a drug dealer. The story of Gloria Okon, Dele Giwa's death, the burning of the Ministry of Defence and other stories are all allegedly tied to an official drug ring during IBB's regime. We researched the rumors, and this is what we found.

In an authoritative report still posted on the web site of the Canadian Parliament on the drug trade in Africa, Labrouse marks out Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria's former self-appointed president, as one of the drug-dealing dictators in Africa. Read more

Dele Giwa, a journalist, was allegedly murdered on the 26 of October 1986 by the former military dictator Ibrahim Babaginda - following damning publications. Close observers of the Nigerian media feared then it was the beginning of harsh military dictatorship in the country. It was a true assessment.

Babangida refused to appear before the duly constituted Oputa panel, giving assorted reasons for his refusal. Ray Ekpu, Giwa's colleague, said: Well, the government may say that the killers have not been found but the killers are known. ...Many Nigerians agree that it was a state sponsored terrorism and that he was assassinated by the state. Read More

Nigeria's military dictatorship, led by General Ibrahim Babangida, annulled the Jun 12 presidential election and canceled plans to return the nation to civilian rule. Britain, the United States and France condemned the latest military takeover and threatened to toughen sanctions against NigeriaAbacha urged all Nigerians to forget the June 12 election.

Lagos lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi, however, said: "June 12 is a symbol of our democracy. It was a day Nigeria and Nigerians without any discrimination whatsoever united in voting Chief MKO Abiola in the freest election in the history of election in Nigeria. ... Read More

Most Nigerian leaders have been corrupt, but Ibrahim Babangida added new, historic elements to corruption. One prime example is what he did with the defunct BCCI Bank. BCCI's activities in Nigeria were so profoundly, overwhelmingly corrupt as to suggest a very significant level of corruption in Nigerian officialdom generally.

Whereas BCCI's activities in most countries merely involved corrupting a few, key people, in Nigeria the corruption was systemic and endemic, and touched nearly every operation of the bank in Nigeria. The bank was operated by Babangida and his friends, including a deposed powerful ruler in northern Nigeria. Read More
